See Cape fur seals as nature intended, gliding gracefully through the Atlantic, on this small-group snorkeling trip to Duiker Island. Travel to the seal colony by Zodiac boat, in a group no larger than 10, then spend ample time in the water, accompanied by specialist guides. No experience is needed.

Duiker Island is a small rocky island that is home to 5000 Cape Fur seals. The snorkeling site is only 1-5m deep so we don’t go out if the swell is too large. We use thick 5mm wetsuits and vests to keep you warm. Motion sickness is a problem for some people, so please be aware of this.
You will get changed at our offices and driven to the boat inside the harbor, from here it’s a short ride to the island. You will snorkel for 30-40 mins, enjoying the kelp forest and Cape fur seals. Once the tour is complete, there is hot chocolate and biscuits for you on the boat. We will then return for a hot shower at our snorkel center.

Trips depend on weather and ocean conditions. We aim to inform snorkelers if their trip is canceled 24 hours before your arrival time. However, we will cancel on the day if the ocean conditions are not safe to snorkel. We will refund in full, but they do take a while to process, please be patient. If you are concerned, please call us a day or two before to check the ocean conditions and if trips may be canceled.

This experience was AMAZING!!! Very well run and organized. They provided all the equipment needed (it was in great condition and clean). The ride out to the seals was fun and gave beautiful views of the shoreline. I was astonished by the hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of seals on the rocks and in the water! I’ve never seen so many. The time in the water was great and I thought it was the perfect amount of time. There are many guides in the water with you who make sure everyone is safe and in the right area. Although our visibility wasn’t perfect that day (it varies based on many factors) I was still able to see and video swimming with the seals. The young ones get closer and are curious and adorable! All of the staff were fantastic, but a special shout out to Sara and Mike who went above and beyond to give me additional recommendations to the surrounding area. Overall 10/10! I highly recommend not only this experience, but booking with the Truth Travel!!! Thank you for such a wonderful time!
