Lifestyle is proud to share our surfing knowledge and expertise so that everyone can enjoy the ocean as much as we do. Many people have always wanted to learn to surf but don’t know how to go about it, plus the equipment, the ocean, other surfers, and the complexity of surfing may be very daunting to beginners. We make it easy. Surfing is an activity that everyone can enjoy at their own level. Many of our students have taken one or two lessons, become addicted to surfing, buy their own board and wetsuit – and never look back!
Others enjoy the personal attention and group atmosphere of lessons and come weekly to surf with their new surfing buddies. Whatever your goals, surfing is challenging, fun, and a great way to keep fit and meet people. Deciding to learn to surf is guaranteed to open up a whole new way of life for you!
Our instructors will teach you the essential fundamentals which guide you through the process of learning to surf. Depending on your skill level, we will tailor the lesson to your needs. In your first lesson, you will learn the basics of board handling, positioning, paddling, various techniques of getting to your feet, surfing etiquette, ocean knowledge, and water safety. We guarantee surfing results after your first lesson.
-All lessons include the surfboard and wetsuit for the duration of the lesson
-Private lessons are 60 minutes long

While we make every effort to ensure your safety, we do however require you to sign an indemnity form. Our instructors also go through various safety scenarios with you as part of your lesson. Because of our location, Muizenberg has a unique “Shark Spotting Program” and it is the only one of its kind in the world.
It attempts to balance the needs of both people and white shark conservation by pro-actively reducing the interaction and conflict between recreational water users and sharks, thus ensuring your safety.
All lessons have a maximum ratio of 5 students to 1 instructor should students be over the age of 15. Under 14-9 year olds are 4 to 1 and 8 and under are 3 to 1 instructors. For students below 7, we advise a 1 on 1 private lesson for the first couple of times.
